Exile is a Musician, DJ , Producer and Emcee

You can hear Exile spinning a wide range of styles pioneering the “MASH UP” sound specialising in blending and mixing Hiphop, Reggae Fusions, Dub Step, Drum n Bass and Jungle but definitely not limited to mixing just these styles. Coming from a backround of DJ’n house parties  Exile would spin party breaks and electro hiphop mixes focusing on uplifting the energy and getting the D Floor to pump with that unique Exile style.

You can find Exile performing all over Auckland city being booked to DJ or hosting events at top venues such as, Khuja Lounge, Raikinos, 4.20, Rising Sun, Barrio, Ponsonby Soical Club, Cosh and Car Park Bar where he is resident Drum n Bass DJ for the premium event Park & Ride.

Rocking Turntables since 2002, begining his Music career in the radio broadcasting industry as a DJ for Auckland’s legendary Radio station 95bFM,  6 years in a specialist show called
“The Exile Sessions” Sat 1am-3am spinning strictly records/vinyl basing the show on an underground sound of Hiphop, Reggae, Techno, Drum n Bass and Jungle, utilizing turntablisim skills developed from the art of “Skracth” to blend and mash it all together.

During the 6 years 2002 – 2008 it has seen Exile to perform with or support almost every major NZ artist on the grind in that time period and at major festivals through out NZ, most prominent being Rhythm and Vines festival in Gisborn city and BW Camp Grounds Gisborn city.

Exile has supported/performed as a DJ,Emcee or Saxophone player with, P-Money, PNC and Con Psy (David Dallas), Concord Dawn, Pitch Black, State of Mind, Kora, Salmonella Dub, Brazil Beat Sound System, Sunshine Sound System, Black Seeds just to name a few.

BIO: Who would have thought, a kid who graduated in IT would have a keen ear and passion for good music? Well, he does and has become one of the in demand DJs in Auckland Nightlife entertainment circles. A self-taught DJ and today, a self-taught Music producer he levels with some of the top DJs in New Zealand.

From Electro-House to club bangers his style of music ignites every dance floor. His unique style of mixing keeps people pulsing to his beats through the night.

Started his career as a DJ who mainly played Fusion music (Bollywood) but was quickly catapulted to playing commercial club house at few of Auckland’s top most Night Clubs. Joining hands with the some of the best event organisers, he has given Auckland a huge share of international celebrity entertainment. In 2011 he started his own production company that is now heavily involved in  organising international celebrity events through Asia Pacific. He is a true story of being ‘World-Famous in NZ’.

BIO: From a very young age Danny has shown a passion for Music. He started to explore his cravings by learning to play the drums, the guitar and the keyboard. At the age of 14 Danny was lent an old Beastie Boys record and decided to attempt scratching on his family’s record player, completely unaware the record was a collectors item, it was here Danny realized his dream of DJing & production.

Starting off by playing Hip Hop Danny was inspired by artists such as DJ Rectangle, A-Trak, P-Money, DJ Severe & DJ CXL to name a few. It was while hitting the Auckland circuit that Danny was introduced to Dubstep and Electro.

In his DJing career Danny has supported artists such as Dizzee Rascal, Caspa, Jack Beats, Pretty Lights, Borgore, Avicii, Calvertron, 12th Planet, The Crookers, AC Slater, Flux Pavilion, Afrojack, Sinden, Dirtyloud, Bare Noize, Skism, Doorly, Cold Blank, Porter Robinson, Mt Eden Dubstep, Calvin Harris & many more.

Early in 2009 Danny began working with renowned producer Kyle Bourke to produce his first remix of the #1 hit single “Put Your Hands Up For Detroit”. Since then he has continued down the path of Music Production going under the alias “STOMP!”. He has also teamed up with super producer Adam Ant, to form a duo called “Stomp!ng Ants” who are currently signed to “Heavy Artillery Recordings” based on Hollywood.

BIO: MC Mas, also known as Sam Martin, is a talented Hip-hop/Drum n Bass MC based in Auckland, New Zealand.

Due to his strong stage presence, unique tone and solid releases, MC Mas has earned his position as one of the finest MC’s in the country.

Teaming up with Auckland based producer LUKE B in 2007, The pairs work ethic and style clicked instantly, spending the next 3 years perfecting the soon to be released full length album “The Game Of Life”.

Mas’s musical journey started with the release of his debut single ‘Musicman’ back in February 2006. The video received massive airplay on C4 and Juice TV. ‘Musicman’ was inducted into the “Juice TV hall of fame” and was nominated for the 2006 Juice TV awards
‘Breakthrough video of the year’.

His second single ‘By Myself’ featured heavily on C4’s ‘Select’ program and received serious airplay on Juice TV. Both single’s were also picked up by both major urban and provincial stations across the country due to spots on the NZ on Air hit disc.

Mas quickly discovered his unique tone and rapid fire delivery was also killer over drum n bass / up beat music. Mas swiftly climbed to the top of Auckland’s live scene, becoming the preferred MC for events such as Shift, Fatcat and broken beats.

Anyone who has seen him perform at these shows will agree, he has a gift for connecting with his audience and is truly a jaw dropping live talent.

In 2011, returning to his hip-hop roots, Mas is gearing up for the release of his highly anticipated full length album ‘The Game Of Life’.
After 3 years of recording and producing the record with Luke B at Big Pop Studios, the album attracted the attention of grammy nominated mastering legend Brett Zilahi from Toronto Canada.

Brett, who has worked with the likes of Wu Tang, Nickelback and 50cent was so impressed by the album, He offered to master all 14 tracks.

Both are taking home five Tuis, with The Naked and Famous winning the coveted Russian Standard Vodka Album of the Year Award and Brooke Fraser the International Achievement Award.

And to cap off a great night for The Naked and Famous, the band’s video for the single “Punching In A Dream” produced by Special Problems also takes out the NZ On Air Best Music Video category.

Other big winners on the night include Tiki Taane with three Tuis and Ladi6 with two.

Guests attending the awards at Auckland’s Vector Arena enjoyed live performances from Brooke Fraser, The Naked and Famous, Ladi6, Six60, Tiki Taane and Avalanche City. Legendary Kiwi band Supergroove performed its own unique version of Kiwi classic “Rain” in honour of this year’s New Zealand Herald Legacy Award recipient Dragon.

The Naked and Famous, whose debut album “Passive Me, Aggressive You” hit the charts at #1 in New Zealand in 2010 and went on to debut at #25 on the UK album chart, takes home all five awards in which it was a finalist.

On top of the Album of the Year win, the five-piece band also takes out the Vodafone Single of the Year, FOUR Best Group, Pacific Blue Breakthrough Artist of the Year and Best Alternative Album.

“Passive Me, Aggressive You” was released worldwide in March 2011 and received glowing reviews in Uncut, Mojo, NME and other publications. The band made the prestigious BBC Sound of 2011 long list and in February the band collected the Philip Hall Radar Award at the Shockwaves NME Awards in London.

In addition to her International Achievement Award, Brooke Fraser’s Tui haul includes wins for The Edge Best Pop Album, Highest Selling NZ Single for “Something In The Water”, Highest Selling NZ Album for “Flags” and the Vodafone People’s Choice Award.

Brooke Fraser’s album “Flags” debuted at #1 in the New Zealand Charts and her single “Something In The Water” was a concurrent #1. The single has been certified platinum and “Flags” double platinum.

Tiki Taane’s three award wins include Best Male Solo Artist and two for his second studio album – “In The World Of Light” – in the Best Electronica and Best Māori Album categories.

BIO: Lankino emerged from the urban Latin underground to New Zealand’s music scene three years ago.

With his affiliation with Cuba’s formidable hit machine Trespeso Music, having recorded a 12-track album in 10 days, with Manicomio Records’ Arquimidis “Kiki Pro” Tamayo, Lankino remains the first and only Kiwi artist to formulate a genuinely New Zealand-made reggaeton sound.

“Kiwiton” as he coins it, had intrigued his steadily growing local and international fan base with edgy, raw lyrics comfortably delivered in both English and Spanish, Lankino had made reggaeton – what was originally a Caribbean product, to a familiar sound in Auckland’s entertainment scene.

Filmed in Cuba’s historic Santiago city, his video “Somos de la Calle” continues stack up YouTube hits while he is being played on  rotation in Rep FM, and making to playlists in George FM, Base FM and channel Four’s Homegrown show.

His sphere of influence reaches the USA, despite being assosiated with a Cuban label, as Lankino’s single “A la E Mama” was featured on movie soundtrack “Surfing with the Enemy” (Polaris Global/Venice The Menace, CA, USA).

Recently back from Brazil after attending the Rio Music Conference, having met with pioneers of Rio Funk movement Carlos Machado (DJ Nazz) and Grandmaster Raphael (of Diplo’s documentary “Favela on Blast”) Lankino is currently scheduling in studio time for his second album collaborating with more local and international acts.

Lankino’s album “Trespeso Reggaeton Mixtape 2011″ remains the first such collaboration with New Zealand and Cuba, and his work is gaining recognition as a credible Aotearoa-made brand of urban music.

BIO: Samoan born mc Uptown Swuite hails from Vacaville, a small city nessled deep amongst the outskirts of northern California. Still, from the confines of the little known place, he has been able to develop quite a following. With a distinct reputation as a fierce highly skilled no nonsense mc, a relentless hustler, and a beast when it comes to live shows, Uptown Swuite is sure to be a name mentioned within the halls of hip hop in years to come. BIO: DJ Sai has been DJing for around 10 years and has DJ’d various different genres of music. His favourite and longest lasting genre is Hip Hop and RnB.

Influences come from Ice Cube and Run DMC back in the day, but these days he is mostly known for his mix CDs ‘Back To The Old Skool’ and ‘Block Party’.

He’s been playin out more lately as a part of the Playas Club Gigs held at Studio Bar in Auckland.

Also since moving from Auckland to Hamilton he has been involved in the H Town RnB scene and been resident at the ‘Loaded Hog’ bar in Hood Street and DJ’d several guest appearences. Currently, he is the resident DJ @ GRINDIN held at Catalyst bar in Victoria Street on Friday nights.

He plans to continue to work with Hip Hop and RnB artists to increase his “H TOWN COLLECTIVE CREW”.

Sai is working with MC’s and may release a single in the near future.

BIO: Ben Gilbert aka Biggi G is one Dj that cannot be overlooked for any event, His all round high energy and love for the music is hard matched as well as his ability to fill any dance floor.

He began having an interest in djing at the ripe age of 16, playing hip-hop and putting on parties at the local race course in Blenheim.

As moving up to Auckland 6 years ago, He began shifting his focus to dance music, mainly focusing on house and electro genres.

He has since then played at the likes of: Forte Dance Fiesta, Kiss, Space, Free-formation, Aisha, Bungalow 8, Panic, Shadow Lounge, Vaccine, 324, MET, Ink& Coherent, Lava Bar (Rotorua), Deluxe, Pony, Studio, Hush, Shift, Fairweathers (Blenheim), Fu & Zen, Volume and many more.

He has also had residency at top Auckland clubs Code, Pyramid, Backyard, Salute, Forte and Tonic.

Ben helped start a promotions company called Fatcat, the group consisted of David Lusion, Matt Groves and himself. On which he preformed, organized and promoted the events. He recently left Fatcat to peruse his own career and new projects that he is currently working on.

Ben Gilbert has won the Rock N Bull $1000 DJ comp, which was held at the Rock N Bull situated on Karangahape Road (K Road), Auckland, New Zealand, It consisted of 8 DJ’s over a 48 hour continuous period where DJ’s played to crowds, The crowed then voted on who there favourite was.

The genre of music was varied between Hip hop, house and electro. Which Ben then conquered them all to win the title, He now has to hold that title threw out the next 4 events and he is automatically in the grand final of the top 4 DJ’s threw out the year to battle out for the grand final.

Ben is currently working on his own tracks with NZ DJ’S And hopes to one day be entertaining crowds all over the world, spreading his love and energy for music and the sound that is Biggi G!!

BUS TRANSPORT

A return bus service to and from the Kelliher Estate has been organised for this event. Buses will be departing from the Intersection of Lower Hobson St and Quay St Auckland city, opposite the Copthorne Hotel and Carpark Bar, outside the Spy Bar walkway area with buses leaving at 4pm and 6pm (boarding from 3.30pm and 5.30pm). Buses will then depart Kelliher Estate towards the end of the event to return back to Auckland from 2am and 3am. The cost of this service is $15 + BF per person.
